Virtual Workshop

October 21-23, 2021

Join us for the fall dissemination workshop that supports the publication of outcomes that showcase broadening participation efforts that cultivate STEM talent at HBCUs, HSIs, Tribal Colleges, MSIs, and small liberal arts colleges. This workshop is designed for practitioners and scholars wishing to publish efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM pathways. Participants will receive individualized support for crafting their manuscript, be introduced to select frameworks relevant to broadening participation efforts and share initiatives and outcomes of efforts developed at their institutions.

The workshop will feature group coaching sessions that help participants:

  1. Craft an introduction that views target demographics through an asset-based lens.
  2. Determine how to best present existing data and if additional data is needed to craft a compelling manuscript.
  3. Characterize the limits of their data.
  4. Develop conclusions that are descriptive, prescriptive, and translational.
  5. Refine publication ideas.
  6. Identify outlets for publication.

Applications are now being accepted.
Submit your application by October 8th, 2021.

Participation is limited to those who have implemented strategies or conducted empirical research related to broadening participation in STEM learning environments and careers. Priority will be given to individuals at HBCUs, HSIs, and Tribal Colleges. Interested individuals must:

  2. Submit a summary of their writing project.
  3. Describe the assistance needed to complete the project.

 

Selected participants will be notified by October 14, 2021 .

Participants will receive a $250 stipend.  In addition, participants will receive one follow-up coaching session.
